Description

This project constructs a new laboratory and equipment storage building on the main campus of Wayne Community College. The building is proposed as a pre-engineered metal building with insulation, built on a concrete slab. Construction to include a standing seam metal roof, with concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls. Walls to include a full brick façade and a building perimeter of brick veneer on two sides approximately 8 feet high. A canopy should be provided at the front main entrance. Personnel doors and roll-up doors to be included at alternate entrances. Building architecture and aesthetics should be complementary to existing Wayne Community College Buildings.
The building structure is to be comprised of approximately 6,800 ft2 under roof, including 3,600 ft2 of enclosed and climate-controlled space with a stand-alone HVAC system. The building should include two restrooms, one private shower room, a 150 ft2 animal wash-down facility with full plumbing accommodations, and a 400 ft2 secured storage room with CMU walls. Connection to campus domestic water, sanitary sewer, electrical, and IT network infrastructure are required.
The project includes concrete aprons at all entries, with compacted stone driveways connecting the building to campus access roads. An asphalt parking area to accommodate necessary ADA accessible parking spaces should be included. A perimeter fence with locking gates should be provided.
The proposed campus site of the project, depicted in APPENDIX A, currently hosts an aging tennis court. Demolition and disposal of the aging asphalt and related tennis court materials are included in the project.
