Description

The water treatment plant expansion and emerging compound treatment project is expected to include the following key 
components:
1. Expansion of the JFK-WTP from a finished water production capacity of 14.7 MGD to a finished water production 
capacity of 26.7 MGD, acknowledging that the final production capacity of the facility may ultimately be limited by 
the capacity of the emerging compound treatment train.
2. Construction of a new reverse osmosis treatment facility for removal of emerging compounds from the filtered 
water supply. The reverse osmosis treatment facility will be sized to handle an influent water capacity of 26.7 
MGD with what is determined to be the optimum stages of treatment through pilot study to yield the least amount 
of concentrate that can be treated in the most cost-effective manner. The reverse osmosis treatment facility will 
also be expected to contain a concentrate wastewater treatment that through pilot study is determined to provide 
the most cost-effective method of removal of PFAS and 1,4 Dioxane so that the remaining concentrate stream can 
either be recycled to the head of the plant, blended with the treated water or sent back to the reservoir via the 
facility’s NPDES permit.
